How Do Makeup and Skincare Fare with Students

According to the Cambridge dictionary, "skincare" refers to things people do and use to keep their skin healthy and attractive, whereas "makeup" refers to coloured substances applied to the face to alter one's appearance. Any makeup brand, however, contains questionable ingredients. If we, as teachers, do not feel comfortable with students wearing full-face makeup to school, let them know. We also want to establish guidelines for when and where it is acceptable to wear makeup.

The growing popularity of skincare and makeup products on social media may influence students to use them. These phenomena are also present in the school context. According to the administration staff, more than 65% of MA Salafiyah Kajen students are female in this academic year. The use of makeup became widespread among them.

Some solutions are proposed to deal with these occurrences. Although there is a written policy on this site that students are not permitted to wear excessive makeup, this implementation must be encouraged by the entire school community. Whenever students bring makeup into the classroom, the teacher will conserve it in the guidance and counselling room. Furthermore, during the exam term, students may begin taking the exam in the test section as long as they do not wear makeup. The teachers will instruct them to take ablution intended to remove their makeup. This is an attempt to minimize the use of makeup products.

Agatha Dinar, a dermatologist, recommended that Indonesian teenagers be introduced to makeup products between the ages of 15 and 17. However, Allah stated in Al-A'raf "O children of Adam, take your adornment to every mosque, and eat and drink, but be not excessive,". We should emphasize how to do something in a non-excessive manner. Finally, we may permit the students for special occasions such as contests and family gatherings, but not every day at school. To facilitate their enthusiasm in skincare and makeup, students are permitted to use basic skincare products such as sunscreen but not a full face of makeup. They should also use delicate products with caution because their skin is absolutely adorable. The most notable feature is that they remain focused on their cognitive abilities rather than their physical appearance.
